New additions at The Laneway

Monday, May 9th, 2011

Hi all,

We now have Sailor Jerry, Gosling’s Family Resrve Old Rum and Old Grandad Bourbon on the back bar at The Laneway.

Sailor Jerry is a spiced rum at 40% ABV.  The recipe was changed in 2010 to align it with the original US recipe, whereby the sugar has been removed and the lime reduced, thus bringing out the flavours of vanilla and cinnamon to provide a great rum to have with your favourite mixer or in an old fashioned.

Old Grandad Bourbon has been in production continuosly for over 170 years and is produced by one of the few American distilleries that continued to operate through prohibition.

Below is a snipped from the Gosling Family website about the Gosling Family Reserve Old Rum.

For seven generations, the Gosling Family has been enjoying a family secret—Gosling’s Family Reserve Old Rum. After 155 years, Malcolm Gosling has decided to let the old family secret out of the barrel and share it with rum aficionados. New to the American market, this ultra-premium aged Old Rum is crafted from the same blend of ingredients as the company’s flagship product, Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, but it is aged longer in oak barrels to create an unusual richness and complexity typically found in rare Scotches and fine Cognacs.

An excellent “sipping rum”, Old Rum can step in for single malt whiskeys and fine Cognacs after a meal. Old Rum is packaged with as much painstaking care as the recipe itself. Each bottle is hand filled and hand labeled, sealed with a cork, dipped in wax and individually numbered. Each bottle is then placed in a straw-filled wooden box reminiscent of days past.

Look forward to seeing you in The Laneway for a drink and a chat soon.

Cheers,
The Laneway Team
